£126m support for 16/17 year old NEETs

21 February 2012

The Government has announced a £126 million initiative to help 16 and 17 year old NEETs find and keep a job, Apprenticeship or full-time place at college.

Today (Tuesday 21st February 2012) saw the official launch of a £126m scheme to support young people aged 16 to 17 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET).

Successful providers will be expected to design and tailor a programme of support to help these young people move into full-time education, an Apprenticeship or a job with training.  Providers will only get paid by results depending on how successful they are at helping young people move into a positive outcome.

This is one of many key initiatives the coalition Government has launched as part of the Youth Contract.
