Extended services for your family:

  • Childcare
  • Parenting Support
  • Swift & easy access to specialist services
  • Varied menu of activities
  • Community use of school buildings

Childcare

All families will be able to access childcare from 8am – 6pm.

Parenting Support

A lot of work is taking place to make sure that every parent gets:

  • Information, advice and guidance
  • The chance to learn with their child and with their family
  • To spend time with other parents and families

All local authorities now have a Parenting Strategy in place showing services that parents will be able to access.

Swift & easy access

Staff in school and other professionals are trying to work closer together to make sure that your child and family receive general support but also that you can access additional support quickly should there be a need. In Bolton we are using the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) Process. This will help support you and other organisations to work together to make sure that your that your child / family gets the best support available.

Varied menu of activities

We are making sure that every child and young person can get involved in lots of different activities like academic study support, sports, drama, dance, music, art and crafts before / after school, at lunch times, at weekends and during holidays.

Every school will have lots of different activities going on - have a look at the schools learning platform / newsletters but there are also things going on in your local community and across Bolton.

Community use of school buildings

Schools are being asked to open up for community activities. Many schools already have community groups using their fields and school halls, more and more are now working with organisations like Bolton Community College to offer adult learning courses and other activities for the community. Not all schools will be able to open up their premises, but where they can, they are trying to open up access!
