What is the Common Applications Process?

The Common Application Process (CAP) is an electronic application form that Year 11 pupils complete once in order to apply for their post-16 learning option choices.

All mainstream secondary schools in Bolton have been using the Common Application Process (CAP) since September 2010.  They are joined in this initiative by the borough's Pupil Referral Units (PRUs), the Young Mums' Unit and Lever Park School.

Bolton has pioneered the use of the CAP on behalf of Greater Manchester and has recently been joined by schools in Salford as this technology is rolled out across the sub-region.

The CAP can only be completed once Year 11 pupils have used the Area Wide Prospectus (AWP) My course my future to research their post-16 choices.  The AWP is about to enter a new phase of development.  From September 2012 it will be replaced by a new UCAS product called Search and Apply.
