Neet reduction

NEET reduction

Since 2006, partners within Bolton have been jointly Action Planning to meet objectives set within Bolton's NEET Reduction Strategy.

The Strategy has been recently reviewed and refreshed to consider changing priorities and to feedback on the positive outcomes that have been achieved over the past year.

The enhanced focus on NEET Prevention and associated Interventions have ensured that key LPSA and LAA targets were achieved in 2008. This improved and co-ordinated response has ensured more young people in Bolton are being supported to achieve a successful transition into and be sustained in EET.

This document is aimed at all those who have a role in reducing the proportion of young people not in education, employment or training (NEET). It is intended to be a practical guide which builds on the NEET Strategy published by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) in November 2007.

Neet Strategy

Our aspiration is that all young people stay on in education or training to 18, developing the skills that will enable them to succeed in life. Only if all our young people are engaged with learning in this way will we prosper together in a changing world economy.

Young people who receive timely and good quality information, advice  and guidance (IAG) are more likely to make successful transitions through learning and into education, employment or training. This cannot be achieved without the support of a well planned and executed programme  of career education and guidance.
