To help you really focus on finding that job you want, answer the list of questions below.

 

If you answer no to any of them or are not sure of the answer, then these are the things you should work on or improve.

 

Ask yourself the following questions

  

  • What types of job are you looking for?
  • What skills, abilities and qualifications do you need for the job you’re looking for?  
  • What skills have you got to offer? Think about the skills and experience you might have from work experience, school or college. This will help you write your CV and prepare for an interview.  
  • Have you got a CV? Does it give the right impression? Have you included everything an employer might want to know? Ask your advisor to check it out.  
  • Do you know about local employers who might have vacancies? Write a list of employers you would like to work for.  
  • Are you organised? Make sure you keep copies of letters and application forms you’ve sent to employers and keep these with the matching job adverts in a folder.
