 Apprenticeships

‘You’re hired!’ That’s what you’re likely to hear nowadays with an apprenticeship.

They are a great way of getting a nationally recognised qualification whilst getting paid and doing on-the-job training in the workplace.

You work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills as an employee and then, usually on a day-release basis, attend college to study for your chosen qualification. Pay for apprenticeships varies, but all employed apprentices must receive a minimum payment of £80 per week.

Apprenticeships are open to everyone aged over 16, but competition for places is strong, so you need to show commitment and prove that you can work as part of a team whilst also using your own initiative.

If you are a Programme Led Apprentice you can apply for an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) to help you with your costs. Speak to your personal advisor to find out more.
