Stood for at election
To make a difference and make Bolton a better place for young people.
What I've done since being a Youth MP
- Attended the cash panel showcase and managed to get names of people interested in being in our Support Group
- I helped giving consultation in school councils to see how they were getting on. This was to help the audit to show progress of the school councils
- I visited a few youth clubs in regards to what a Youth MP actually does (as not many people know) and I am still doing this
- I have attended Children Trust meetings with the director of children’s services on young peoples behalf
- I have visted Little Lever Youth Council to see how they run it in order to help us set our main Youth Council out
Annual sitting
This was in Exeter. The main part of it was the campaign groups that we were put in. The campaign group I was in was the Culture, Media and Sport manifesto. This was very fun; not only did I make new friends, I made a difference. We said that we would try and organise a culture day in which all the major cities would take part and show off all the cultures within it. We also suggested a ban on the word YOB regarding young people as it is offensive and age discrimination. In terms of sport we said that there is sport out there for everyone, however they are not always available so we need to make them more available and also recognised as a sport.
Regional residential
In this I was in the facilities for young people regional campaign. We came up with needing to do consultation on this matter and to make people aware of youth clubs and updating the already existing facilities. This would be very beneficial and we are still doing this. We also said it would be good to get local celebrities on board with this campaign as it will get people off the street. This campaign is also being done in regional meetings regularly.
Transport meeting
This is going to be in Bolton and all the major bus companies are going to be attending.
Visiting Youth Clubs
We are consulting with members with the focus on the age of adulthood questionnaires.
